MI vs RR Dream11 Team, Probable Playing XI, Toss, Pitch and Match Preview: Shaky MI return on field after a six-day break to take on tumbling RR in Delhi.
The Big Picture
Arun Jaitley Stadium has not been a happy hunting ground for the two teams. Moreover, both sides have struggled with their middle order. The two sides seem to score in a similar manner during the death overs as well. Run rate for both sides during death overs his season has been below 7.5 apart from Rajasthan’s opening match against Punjab. The two sides have competed in 23 matches so far. MI and RR both have won 11 matches each. However, since 2018 surprisingly RR have had an upper hand over MI by winning 5 out of 6 matches. RR’s 9 out of 11 wins are while chasing a score against MI.
Mumbai Indians
With a change of Venue Mumbai Indians hope for change of fortunes especially with their middle order. MI trio of Kishan, Pollard and Pandya have collectively managed only 174 runs in 5 matches at an average of 34.8 runs. A poor run by the Pandya brothers has given oppositions an edge over MI. Most of the MI batsmen use the bowler’s pace for stroke making, a slow pitch in Delhi might force Mumbai to make drastic changes not only to the middle order but also to their bowling unit. MI management was happy competing with only 3 overseas players in the previous two matches. Nathan Coulter-Nile can fit in for Hardik Pandya.
Rajasthan Royals
After loosing Archer and Stokes to injuries, Livingston and Tye also have opted out. Rassie van der Dussen has joined the RR camp as a last-minute replacement but is serving a mandatory quarantine period and is unavailable for selection. Sanju Samson looked calm and compose during RR’s chase against KKR, Buttler needs to step up and join Samson. RR might bring in Shreyas Gopal against Rohit Sharma considering Sharma’s vulnerability to spin bowling on a slow track. The leggie has bowled against the MI skipper in the past and has dismissed him twice for 15 runs in Power Play overs. Gopal has also dismissed de Kock once and has conceded only 18 runs.
Pitch Conditions and Toss
The wicket in Delhi aids spinners and especially in a day match the dew factor will have no role to play. Since 2019, side chasing has won 5 out of 7 matches and side winning the toss might again opt to bowl. 180 looks to be a par score.
