IPL Match 5: Mumbai Indians comfortably defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 49 runs

Writer: Bhavesh DodiaBhavesh Dodia

MI registered their first win of the tournament and with this they also overcome the UAE jinx to win their first match on this soil.

Earlier in the day, D Karthik won the toss and elected to field first. Initially their decision looked correct as Q de Kock's wicket fell early but Rohit and Suryakumar held MI innings together, while doing so Rohit found his touch and thereafter it was all one way traffic. Suryakumar played a good supporting role and S Tiwary played a cameo as well.

KKR batsman struggled to get accustomed to the pace of the pace-trio of MI. D Karthik and N Rana tried to change the situation for KKR by attacking MI leg-spinner R chahar but Chahar got better of the KKR captain and they never got going. Later in the innings P Cummins played an entertaining cameo for KKR but it was too little too late.
